Privacy policy
Short version: your text and your audio stay on your device. Inknarrate has no accounts and no server that receives your content.
Last updated: October 2026
1. Your text and audio
When you type, paste or import text and press Speak, the speech is produced by your own browser. The text, the audio and the exported files are never sent to Inknarrate or to anyone else, because there is no server that could receive them. Exported files are saved straight to your computer.
2. What is stored on your device
To work offline and remember your work, Inknarrate keeps the following in your browser, on your device only:
- Voice model files that you added (browser storage called IndexedDB).
- Generated sentences (also IndexedDB), so they do not have to be made again.
- Your text and settings: the text box, chosen engine and voice, speed, sound and pause settings, presets, pronunciation rules and whether you have seen the tutorial (local storage). This is not a tracking cookie and is never sent anywhere.
- The app files themselves (a service worker cache), so the page opens offline.
None of this is synced to a cloud service or readable by us. In the app, the Models window lists stored files and lets you delete them one by one. Clearing this site's data in your browser removes everything.
3. Accounts, cookies and tracking
There are no accounts and no sign-up. Inknarrate does not set cookies and does not load third-party scripts.
4. Hosting and visit statistics
This site is served by Cloudflare. Like any host, Cloudflare processes each request (for example your IP address and the page requested) to deliver the page and protect it from abuse, and it provides the site owner with aggregate traffic statistics such as page views, countries and browser types. These statistics do not include your text or audio, and we do not use them to identify you. Cloudflare's own policy describes what it keeps.
5. Hugging Face (getting voice models)
Voice models are not hosted here. The Download buttons in the Models window point to Hugging Face, where the authors publish them. When you press a button, your browser contacts Hugging Face to fetch that file (for the small config.json file the app can fetch it for you and save it). Hugging Face may log your IP address and the request, under its own privacy policy. Only the file name is requested; none of your text or audio is involved. After the files are added to Inknarrate, they are used offline.
6. Language data
The first time you add a Spanish or Arabic voice, the app downloads extra language data from this same site and keeps it for offline use. That is a normal request to this site's host, as in section 4.
7. Links to other sites
The app and these pages link to other sites, for example Hugging Face, GitHub and Reddit. They have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their content or practices.
8. The voice models you add
Each voice model has its own licence, set by its authors. You are responsible for using a model in line with its licence. Inknarrate does not host, ship or check the licence of models you choose to add, apart from the notes shown next to the suggested ones.
9. Children
Inknarrate does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13. Parents and teachers are welcome to try it and decide whether it suits their setting.
10. Changes to this policy
If the way the site works changes in a way that affects privacy, this page will be updated first and the date above changed. Changes will not quietly reduce your privacy.
11. Contact
